To all residents (1, 3, 5 Massey and 2/4, 6/8 and 10/12 Crescent Town Rd)
The stream of water coming out of the cracks in the paved parking/ driveways near 5 Massey Square
Service Entrance is a result of break in the fire water main pipe. The above pipe is 8” dia. ductile iron and
located 16 ft. below the asphalt paved level.
ABM’s Team (Contractor) mobilized on site Thursday at 4:00 p.m. and started scanning of the ground for
buried utilities shortly thereafter. The excavation commenced for the exploration around 11:30 p.m.
Thursday, June 15. The repair work was completed on Saturday, June 17 at 7:30 p.m. during which time
the water supply was restored in stages to the high-rise buildings.
The water supply to the Townhouse Buildings and Community Centre was restored earlier in the day
Saturday, June 17 at around 12:30 p.m.
The repair took longer due to the complicated nature of existing construction surrounding the deficient
pipe. The pipe is encased in a very hard concrete which we carefully removed to get into the broken
pipe without creating further damage.
The repair performed to the broken fire water main is a temporary one to provide water to the residents
in the interim. This helped relieved the distress from residents since water has been out for almost two
days.
The permanent repair which involves replacing the deficient section of the firewater main as well as the
domestic and fire water shut-off valves will be performed commencing Wednesday, June 21 at 7:00
p.m. to Thursday, June 22 at 12 noon. During this timeframe, water will be shutdown to 1, 3 & 5
Massey. The water supply to the School will also be shutdown during the above timeframe. The above
timeline is longer than initially informed to account for any unforeseen circumstances which we may
encounter during the repair work. The water supply may be restored earlier than scheduled if
everything goes well.
The water supply to 2-4, 6-8 & 10-12 Crescent and Community Centre will not be affected during the
repair.
It has been noticed that resident are disposing of the mattresses without wrapping them in a plastic bag and bringing them down from the elevators which is a Health and Safety Hazard.
Please be advised that, henceforth, all the mattresses must be wrapped and secured in a plastic bag to prevent any damage to the elevators and then dispose of ONLY outside the Loading Zone of 5 Massey Square:
BETWEEN MONDAY TO SUNDAY 10.00 AM TO 09.00 PM.
PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE RETRIEVED FROM THE SECURITY OFFICE.
Potentially, this protocol could prevent spreading the insects in the building.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.
PLEASE PUSH YOUR GARBAGE ALL THE WAY DOWN THE CHUTE AND CLOSE THE CHUTE DOOR.
THE SMELL IS OFFENSIVE TO OTHER RESIDENTS.
We have tried, unsuccessfully, to inform residents of how to properly dispose of garbage, particularly regarding tossing cigarette butts over the balcony.
This not only devaluates your investment but interferes with the other residents’ right to enjoy the use of their balcony/patio. PLEASE USE AN ASTRAY, EXTINGUISH YOUR BUTTS AND THROW THEM OUT WITH YOUR GARBAGE.
